Born at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire and lived at 74 Thoresby Road Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire. Son of Joseph and Florence Odam, of 250, Commercial Road, Bulwell, Nottinghamshire. He was a coal miner at Langwith Colliery prior to enlisting at Mansfield, January 1915. He went to France 22nd June 1915 and was killed in action, 9th August 1915, aged 18, during the attack at Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
