Lance Corporal George Frederick Evans

Battalion: 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

He lived at 10, Elliott Street, Widnes, Lancashire. Son of Mr G. W. and Mrs S. Evans, of Riversdale, Mountfields, Shrewsbury. He was a Fitter prior to enlisting on 9th December 1915 at Widnes and was appointed Lance Corporal on 29th May 1917. He was transferred to the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry on 27th March 1918 and went to France on 30th March 1918. He was then transferred to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on 9th April 1918. He suffered gunshot wounds to his right leg on the 21st October 1918 and was treated at 105 Field Ambulance, then was sent to the 8th Stationary Hospital at Terlincthun where he died of wounds 5th November 1918, aged 21.
