Born at Nottingham and lived at 10, Crown Street, Blue Bell Hill, Nottingham. Son of Thomas Murden Ellis and Harriet Ellis, of 6, King’s Place, Barker Gate, Nottingham. Husband of Sarah A. Ellis. He was a lithographer prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, in the attack on the German positions north-west of Thiepval, France during the Battle of the Somme.
