He lived at 27, Brook Street, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Son of William Edwards, of 29, Teagues Bridge, Wombridge, Shropshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting 1st May 1915 at Ilkeston. He went to France 6th March 1916 and was admitted to No. 3 Stationary Hospital, Boulogne, France, suffering from influenza 6th October 1916. He was evacuated to England on Hospital St. Dennis, 18th October 1916 and returned to France 2nd March 1917. He died from shrapnel wounds to his left leg 4th August 1917.
